You know the saying “you are what you eat”? Well, food can help build your body and has an effect on physical and mental well-being. In that case we should pay attention to what we are putting into our bodies.
Research indicates that eating quality whole foods (as opposed to mass produced processed fast food) is beneficial to health and vitality. So, what to choose and how to cook them in a tasty, nutritious and tempting way. This workshop explains what to use, preparation methods and their nutrient properties helping to support health and creating a balanced diet.
Herbs and spices will also be used to help you learn how they can enhance flavour and support good health
This course will support you in preparing and cooking whole foods using mainly seasonal ingredients in order to make delicious, tasty, attractive looking and nutritious meals for yourself, family and friends.
By the end of the course you will:
- Be able to cook whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, barley, millet, couscous etc.); pulses (beans, lentils, chick peas etc.); sea vegetables (kombu, nori etc.); nuts, seeds, condiments, miso, tofu and tempeh
- Observe demonstrations and prepare under the cook’s guidance several delicious whole food dishes, which will form part of a balanced diet, using seasonal foods, herbs and spices
- Be able to prepare and enjoy eating what you cook and receive advice and coaching about whatever you want to know about preparing and cooking great food!
